In House Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant

Location: Falls Church, VA

Position: In House Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) Full Time

Job Summary: The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA).

The COTA will be responsible for implementing programs developed by the Occupational Therapist in compliance with all local, state and federal regulations. The successful candidate will also collaborate with facility staff to enhance the physical, mental, and social well-being for patients.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implement treatment plans designed by the Occupational Therapist.
  • Assist patients with therapeutic activities aimed at improving fine motor skills, strength, and coordination.
  • Monitor patient progress and report observations to the supervising OT.
  • Educate patients and their families on therapeutic exercises and assistive devices.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient progress and treatment sessions.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the interdisciplinary care planning process.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and standards of practice.
  • Provide emotional support and encouragement to patients throughout their rehabilitation journey.

Qualifications

  • Certification in Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
  • Experience working in an occupational therapy setting preferred.
  • Able to communicate effectively with patients and their families.
  • Knowledge of the principles, procedures, and techniques of occupational therapy
  • Knowledge of common medical conditions, disabilities, and the effects on patient functioning
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Able to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Strong organizational and critical thinking skills
  • Physical strength and dexterity for patient handling tasks
  • Current CPR certification required.
